I have just finished having a full reproduction work up on our mare DPR Technicolor
(1995 Chestnut mare) and unfortunately for me she is not a mare that I can justify the expense to try to get
her in foal. Dr. Peggy Fuller the equine reproduction specialist who has had Britany under her care did say that it is
not out of the question that she could get pregnant and carry a foal to term but she is a high risk mare reproductively and
one that will require proper (and expensive) reproduction management.
So with this news I have
made the decision to place Britany in a home, she is free but only to a home that is able
to provide references. All veterinary records will be provided to the new owner.
When I bought Britany I was told she was started as a 3 yr old but I have never
tried her out so I can't offer her as anything but a companion horse, however I believe that Britany is "trainable"
and that she just might make a great trail horse for someone who would be willing to take the time to start her under saddle. Britany
has always been in good health, she trailers fine, is great for the vet and farrier, she is extremely sweet and loving
to her people and best suited for someone who has lots of space and time to devote to her (neither of which I have) .
Britany can be an alpha mare so I would not recommend her to anyone who does not have an alpha horse already established within
their herd. Britany is very willing to be in the role of a less dominant horse when confronted by the established
alpha.
I am headed out the door to go to Jacksonville to pick her up
and will post updated photos of Britany later this weekend. Here is a quick photo of my beautiful girl taken late spring of
this year. Please email me privately if you have interest.
